The FIFA World Cup: Waka Waka India

The one thing which was in the Indian News throughout the whole FIFA WORLD CUP…  The Octopus Paul Baba… as said by the Indian news Channel.  Some one was telling his life story, some one was wearing an octopus costume, some one was comparing it with Nostradamus. It was the Pulpo Paul the cup of  the news channels more than the FIFA stories.

It all started like I said to my husband that “FIFA comes once every 4 years, so I will watch the whole World Cup” so he agreed. And what happened… till the World Cup final he was the one who was watching and I was the one trying to be awake… hahaha… the change in 30 days. Now he knows more than I.

The best matches were at midnight in ESPN, but hey! the commentators didn’t even expressed any emotions or at least yelled GOALLLLLLLL. The comments were just so flat. If you are a fan of football you know what I mean. And the vuvuzelas…sounded like bees, just too noisy for my taste.

The BBC showcased the post winning party of Spain LIVE and the Spanish Prime Minister was also jumping on the stage. So the whole country was engulfed in the fire of the RED FURIA color of Spain. On the other hand the Dutch were understandably sad. The world was all with the football. I just wonder what actually was the mood there in Spain.

I hope one day the same thing will happen in India as I see no such spirit for football in India. Indian news channel used to talk about the football but mixing it with talks about cricket. So everything comes to cricket in this country. But at least we had the live show by ESPN, so I could watch the matches. Even the rain did not harm my football mania. My dish TV also went off and I sent like 50 mails to the company to correct it and in the 4th day I called them more than 80 times to get it repaired. I missed my Germany and Spain semi-finals match but I was able to watch the final.

Only after the final all the Indian channels were talking about the FIFA cup winner.

Oh! and I also won the bet from my husband and got the money… hahaha. Olé for the World Cup winners!

Waka… waka… hey… hey… This time for Africa…

Hiya!

I enjoyed reading your article. Paul Baba, eh? that was funny.
¡Que bueno que ganaras la apuesta!

Haha… yes, there’s a lot of sensationalism in the Indian TV… but it’s fun to watch sometimes. Thanks for visiting :)
