What makes a girl a good Indian girl? Hmm this really got the thinking… I mean, we are in 2011, Indian girls live in metros and abroad, their professional and personal interests are quite diverse and there’s really not much time left to think about it.
On the other hand, if you live in an Indian society, you can be questioned about your skills as a host. You don’t know how to make chai? an aunty can say… Ouch… well maybe I can be forgiven because there are no tea leaves at home? or perhaps because I just don’t like chai? oops… that’s almost a sin in India. Corruption in India has many faces: bribes, people sneaking money out of the country, fraudulent contracts, money laundering, etc. And we have seen a lot of that lately with the great scandal of the Commonwealth Games, Swiss accounts, and well who hasn’t face a corrupt official asking for a bribe. It’s the daily bread.
What surprises me is that India wasn’t having an anti corruption law. Really? There hasn’t been such a law since Indian Independence? Well, that explains many many things. The draft of the law has been around though, but I guess the same corrupt politicians never wanted to approve it.
A man named Anna Hazare, who previously fasted for the implementation of the Right to Information Act, decided to fast again for the acceptance of the draft for the Anti – Corruption law in the Jantar Mantar of Delhi. After almost 100 hours fasting, he finally got his voice heard and the Government of India has accepted his draft and we all hope it will be approved by the Indian Parliament soon. Read More…

No, It’s not that I’m searching for an Indian boyfriend but many women from Latin America are. Isn’t it great all the magic that the Indian cinema can create around the world? Maybe they have the illusion that India is like a big movie set. That you are on a bus station and suddenly a girl sees a boy and the boy sees the girl, and they start dancing, and everybody else also starts a synchronized dance.
Or maybe is the stability of the Indian married life that has been highlighted in the west or maybe they show in the Indian movies that a man fights for his love and the couple meet and the romance is in the air. The SRK (Shahrukh Khan) charisma is there with the songs and the dance, and even the reality is quite different, their ability to see India is only through the DVDs that they purchase from their local markets or from other few sources. What do you think about this ad? Because what better way to go inside your opponent’s economy than to know his language, right?
Most Indians are already multilingual. They know at least two Indian regional languages. And nowadays, more and more Indians learn foreign languages like English, German, French, etc. Read More…

Yesterday I was watching the premiere of MasterChef India. I am a big fan of the Australian version of MasterChef and therefore I was really curious about this new show.
But after watching the first episode I was quite disappointed. First of all the host was Akshay Kumar, an Indian actor. I don’t know much about him but I know for sure he is not a chef, so I don’t know under which basis he can be one of the judges of the show. I don’t think he has the qualifications for being a food judge, give a food review or even give a MasterChef class.
Another reason for my disappointment was the huge amount of drama in the show, and when I say huge, I mean HUGE. Endless crying and little focus on what’s the original show about… FOOD. Read More…

I just saw the documentary of the BBC called Secret Lives “Middle East Taboos” with the title Operation Virginity. I guess you can understand with the title of the program what was it all about. The women which were shown in the documentary confessed that they lost their virginity at the age of 14-16. Wow can you imagine, I thought it was only the west which was labeled the early age virginity looser but after watching the program I think it’s same all across the world but it’s just that it’s secretly guarded by the society.
Some of the women who lost their virginity went to Paris to repair and reconstruct their hymen which was very surprising because they said they were so scared that if their family knew about it they will certainly kill them in the name of honor and even if their family didn’t kill them, they will never get marry as the society accept the sexual experience of men but they can’t accept a woman to have it. With all the controversy around the upcoming Commonwealth Games in New Delhi I could not help but to think… what is the meaning of being on time for Indians? I have the feeling that things in India work at a different pace, specially in government offices where they have a “chai break” Read More…

Yesterday night we were watching TV and suddenly found a program called Emotional Atyachaar. In this program there was one guy making a “loyalty test” to his girlfriend. What was this loyalty test about? Well, the loyalty test was to send a boy or as they say “undercover agent” on purpose to pretend that he liked the girl and ask her out for dates. What she didn’t know is that there were hidden cameras everywhere they went and everything was being recorded. On the studio this guy was watching how his girlfriend was going out with another guy and cursing a lot.
The twist was that the TV show also followed him without his notice and found out that he was having another girlfriend! Yes, this guy was having 2 girlfriends at the same time for almost 4 years and was angry coz one of them was “cheating” on him… LOL. Can you imagine? Read More…

Auckland Harbour
What if you dream something and some of your dreams come true one day. Wouldn’t it be great and you’ll feel excited about it.
Sometimes life seems so difficult and unfair that we fell like it’s little hard on us and we ask to God what mistake we have done that we are not getting what we deserve!! but I think God gives us what we ask from him.
Maybe in one way or another he gives it to us. It’s just that we are not patient or we are not satisfied and by the time we get it our hunger becomes more bigger.
One can enjoy the Life in a wonderful way as it comes to us and accept it. Things happen, it just take a little while and sometimes we just loose it when it’s almost in our hands.
When I look back I remember very clearly how I came to India and it looks like yesterday, all the memories float in front of my eyes like it is happening now. I just stand still and remember everything. Doesn’t it happen with you that sometime some of your fond memories just makes you feel like crying. Read More…
