When I think about renewing my passport I think about going in the morning to the Immigration office with my receipt and old passport and after a quick process, getting it after a couple of hours.

Here in India the story is completely different. When an Indian citizen wants to renew or apply for his passport there’s a huge process that can easily take few months. My husband and I reached Dehradun, the capital of Uttarakhand in North India, the heat was still chasing us so we decided to have some fun and explore Rishikesh. We hire a cab that took us there in about fourty minutes. The road view was of a peaceful forest.

Finally at Rishikesh we had our very first lovely view of the Ganga River. It was so powerful and impressive.

Inside Rishikesh we found all sorts of people, foreigners and locals walking here and there in between the small market and taking the holy bath at the Ganga River bank. It was impressive to see all the different kinds of people that the Holy Ganga attracts.

Yoga classes, prayers, necklaces and brass images of the Indian Gods where all around. I really enjoyed shopping for a tulsi necklace which I will keep as a memory of my trip. Read More…
