New Twist To Traditional Festivals in India

Yesterday I was reading about the festival called Karwa Chauth. It’s an Indian festival in which married woman fast the whole day for their husband’s long life. Also unmarried girls fast for their wish of getting a good husband one day. This festival obviously brought many questions in my head. I asked: when is the day when husbands fast for the long life of their wives? The answer was that there was not such a festival.

This really made me think that this festival was originated way back, when the husband was the sole provider for the home and the wife use to stay at home. Read the rest of this entry »

I Support Anna Hazare

Last April, I came to know about a man who wanted to make a difference in India and I wrote about it: “Anna Hazare’s Anti Corruption Crusade“. Unfortunately, since last April, the anti – corruption law remained as a draft and the Government of India didn’t do much to make it real. Doctor’s Curiosity In India

After living here for quite a bit, I have noticed that Indian people are very curious by nature. And if you are a foreigner, well that just enhances their curiosity more and more.

I try to take the questions with a sense of humor, but I really cannot handle it when I am sick and the doctors seem to be more interested in knowing my life than my illness.
